BSA Webinars: Everything You Need to Know

BSA Webinars: Free & open to all

As of June 2020, this post is no longer being updated. For information on BSA’s ongoing series of webinars and other virtual events, please see the “Virtual Events” page under the “Programs” page heading above.

BSA is offering free webinars throughout the spring and summer seasons of 2020, open to all who wish to attend. Most webinars are recorded for later viewing on our YouTube channel. Upcoming and past webinars are all listed below.

Volunteer to lead a webinar: In light of the ongoing crisis, we have redirected funds from 2020 Community Grants Program to compensate webinar leaders who have suffered financially as a result of the crisis with honoraria of up to $200. We recognize that many BSA members will face financial difficulties during this uncertain time, and hope that this small gesture demonstrates our goodwill and support for our community. We ask salaried individuals to volunteer their time to reserve funding for those in need.

Improving Webinar Accessibility with Community Subtitling

The BSA records many in-person and virtual events to offer free, virtual programming to our membership and a broader public. These videos are accessible through the BSA’s YouTube channel.

The BSA is committed to improving access to these recordings. As of Spring 2020, we are working to provide edited English and other language subtitles, with a particular focus on Spanish to reach audiences throughout the Americas.
We need English speakers to edit automated transcriptions, and speakers of other languages to translate them in YouTube. We are pleased to offer free one year memberships to all who submit complete translations of edited English transcripts of individual videos. In other words, one completed transcript or translation = one year’s free membership. If you are already a member in 2020, we will auto-renew your membership through December 2021. Only one free membership per individual; however, if you complete a second translation we will be happy to offer a free membership to another person as a gift from you.

We created a guide to editing English subtitles and to adding foreign language translations that you can view on our website, here
