Proposals for events taking place between June and September of 2024 are due April 1, 2024.
Due to administrative demands on the BSA staff in January and February,
we cannot accept proposals for events scheduled during those months.

The BSA continues to accept proposals for both virtual and in-person events. Proposals for in-person events should describe safety measures in place for attendees. In addition to funding (e.g., honoraria to speakers), the Society can provide some administrative support and virtual webinar hosting via Zoom. Please contact Events Committee Chair Ashley Cataldo with any questions.

Helpful Hints

Applications for support usually vary between $250 to $1000 per event. Funds can be used for a variety of purposes, including, but not limited to, venue rental, honoraria, travel expenses for an invited speaker.

Virtual events can be hosted using the Society’s Zoom license, which accommodates up to 500 attendees. We recommend identifying an institutional co-sponsor that would be willing to host your virtual event if you want a larger audience.

The BSA office can provide support for multi-lingual interpretation and captioning, however, events with speakers of multiple languages are administratively complex. If you seek support for an event featuring speakers of any other language besides English, please schedule an appointment to speak with the Executive Director before submitting your proposal.

The Society can also facilitate arrangements for simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish for virtual events at a cost of $400 per event.

Eligibility

The call for proposals is open to the public. Successful applicants are required to become members of the Society if they are not already.
