Local Arrangements
Coming to New York for Bibliography Week? Can’t wait to see you this January! We hope the information below will help you plan your trip.
Schedule of Events ↑
Visit BibliographyWeek.org for a complete calendar of events open to the public throughout Bibliography Week. Some events require registration, be sure to consult the calendar and follow instructions.
If you wish to consult a calendar of BSA-sponsored events only, visit the Bibliography Week or Calendar pages on our website.
The Grolier Club hosts public and member-only events throughout Bibliography Week; the former are listed on BibliographyWeek.org but the latter are not. Club members should check the Club calendar for private event listings.
Hotels ↑
The weather in New York may not be ideal, but hotel rates are at their lowest point of the year in late January. If you are uncertain about attending, check hotel cancellation policies: you can book reservations early to secure the best rates and cancel if necessary at no cost.
Because Bibliography Week is organized by the BSA in cooperation with our peer organizations, there is no single conference hotel or accompanying rate. The hotels recommended below have been well-reviewed by previous attendees and offer a convenient home base for events throughout the City.
The Blakely: 126 W. 55th between 6th & 7th. Well-priced; people who stayed here in 2024 were happy with the hotel and location.
The Arlo Midtown: 351 West 38th between 7th & 8th. Well reviewed, new.
The Westin Grand Central: Next door to Grand Central Station. Inexpensive when booked well in advance.
Pod 51: 230 E 51st St, between 2nd & 3rd Avenues. Convenient, very inexpensive, small rooms.
Getting Around ↑
The New York City Subway system is still a modern miracle: get everywhere you need to go for $2.90/ride. You can now pay your fare by tapping your credit card, debit card, or smartphone at the turnstile. For those needing a printed receipt to document their travel, purchase a MetroCard at a kiosk and swipe to ride.
The MTA website provides up-to-date system information and features a trip planner with an accessibility feature.
The MyMTA App offers highly accurate system information, including bus, subway, and train (LIRR, MetroNorth) times. Available via Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Yellow and green taxis remain widely available throughout Manhattan, hail a cab on the street and tell the driver where you’d like to go.
Rideshare Apps Lyft and Uber work well throughout the City.
